Live Brave: Helping Young New Zealanders Take the Leap
There’s a moment just before a bungy jump when everything else fades away. Your heart races. Your hands grip the platform. The fear is real—but so is the rush of excitement. And then, you take the leap. That moment of transformation—the shift from fear to exhilaration—is exactly what Live Brave is designed to harness.

Why Bravery Matters Now More Than Ever

In today’s world, young New Zealanders face uncertainty, stress, and pressure like never before. Whether it’s school challenges, social expectations, or the anxiety of an unpredictable future, resilience has never been more critical. That’s why Live Brave was created. It’s not just about conquering fear for a single moment—it’s about learning how to navigate the challenges that life throws at you.

How It Works

Live Brave is a school-based programme that combines:
  • Classroom learning – Practical lessons on managing stress, self-belief, and building resilience.
  • Mentor-led group discussions – Safe spaces where students can reflect on their fears, experiences, and goals.
  • A final challenge—A Bungy Jump – A moment that cements everything they’ve learned into a real, physical experience.
This unique mix of psychological tools and experiential learning helps students apply bravery in all areas of their lives—whether it’s tackling a big exam, trying something new, or standing up for themselves. 92% of educators have observed a measurable improvement in their students’ resilience after Live Brave.

What Schools Are Saying

The impact of Live Brave goes far beyond the individual. Teachers and principals have seen their students return to the classroom with a renewed mindset, armed with confidence, resilience, and a new perspective on what they’re capable of. “Since completing the programme, our students have a completely different outlook. They’re saying: ‘If I can do this, I can do anything.’ The whole experience has been emotionally valuable for all involved.” – Jonathon Tredray, Teacher, Northcross Intermediate “What an amazing experience Live Brave was for our Year 9 students. The mutual support and encouragement was noted by staff, and we congratulated our students on their courageous and respectful attitude. There has been powerful learning on many levels.” – Mason Stretch, Principal, Cromwell College

More Than a Jump—A Life-Changing Shift

For many students, Live Brave is a turning point. Some have arrived too afraid to even step onto the ledge, only to leave inspired, empowered, and ready to tackle life’s challenges head-on. One student, who had struggled with self-confidence for years, refused to jump. But after watching their classmates support each other and seeing the transformation in their peers, they decided to try again. This time, they stepped forward, took a deep breath, and jumped. That experience became a defining moment—not just on the ledge, but in their approach to life itself.
